Two marketing creatives go to St Ives

Me and Alex recently had an amazing 4 night stay at St Peter’s Studio in St Ives.

Donna and her team have managed to create a gorgeous home from home feel, with little surprises and luxe touches.

We travelled by train from Chichester, which might sound hellish on the face of it, a 7.5hr journey, however with the 4 changes, you are only ever on the train for a short while — the upside is not being stuck in traffic and actually getting to enjoy the change in scenery, particularly when you hit the Devon and Cornwall coastlines. Wow.

My advice if visiting Cornwall? Ignore what your weather app tells you, we found it much sunnier and drier than the forecast for March.

The house is perfect: 4 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, spacious living and dining area and a fitted kitchen. Plus a lovely little courtyard at the entrance. To say the location is prime would be an understatement, you are right in the heart of St Ives, just a minute's walk from Porthgwidden and Porthmeor Beaches and St Ives Harbour — but due to the classic thick Cornish stone walls, you don't hear a peep!

Even out of season, St Ives is buzzing; full of life and people. We loved it.

A few highlights and must do, in our opinion!

- Fish and chips

- St Michael's Mount

- Breakfast in one of the pods on Porthmeor Beach

- Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden

- Tate St Ives

- Sunrise (Porthgwidden) and sunset (Porthmeor)

- a Cornish cream tea - we bought scones from St Ives Bakery, Cornish tea, jam and cream from Norway Stores (30 seconds away)

- South West Coast Path to Porthminster (a quick pitstop at Porthminster Cafe) and Carbis Bay

- Cocktails at Seven Bar

- Cornish pasty sat by the harbour with a pint of local brew from The Sloop Inn, a 14th century boozer!
