Why I Just Rewrote My Own LinkedIn About Section
I spend my working life helping business owners feel more confident on LinkedIn. Profiles, content, strategy: it's what I do, day in, day out.
So you'd think my own profile would be spot on, right?
Well. I took a proper look at my About section this week and realised it was doing a perfectly decent job of telling people what I do. But it wasn't really telling them why I do it, or what I believe about LinkedIn that makes my approach different.
It was fine. But fine isn't the same as good.
Clarity in your marketing is critical to building trust
Can someone read your marketing and accurately predict what they're signing up for?
- If yes, you've marketed clearly.
- If no, you've created confusion that will undermine the relationship before it even starts.
You Do Not Need To Accept Every Connection Request

- Quality over quantity, always
- Connect with people who genuinely matter to your work, industry, or goals; not random strangers from someone else's connections list.
Your network should be full of people you'd actually want to have a conversation with, not people you're hoping won't notice you've never crossed paths.
